How to install structure before the chaos becomes culture.
The first 100 hours in any leadership role are the most consequential. Not because of the decisions you make — but because of the culture you signal.
Everyone is watching. The team. The clients. The partners. They are all forming their initial model of who you are and how you operate. That model is incredibly sticky.
Here is how to use those hours well: listen first. Do not walk in with a change agenda. Walk in with a question agenda. What is working? What is not? What would you fix if you could? You will learn more in those conversations than in any briefing document.
Set one visible standard in the first week. Not a speech, not a memo — an action. A meeting that starts on time. A decision made quickly. A piece of feedback given directly. That single action tells the team more about your leadership than a hundred words.
Then build the operating rhythm. Weekly check-ins. Clear ownership. Simple accountability systems. Structure is the prerequisite for everything else.
